CADCAI’s community arts program encourages the learning and development of Chinese culture through the expression of music, dance and performing arts. The Moli-Hua dance group is made up of young people of diverse backgrounds and ages, with varying levels of experience and dance skills. The group learn and practice a blend of traditional and contemporary Chinese dances using fans, ribbons, drums and hoops.

Chinese dance classes are held every Sunday morning from 9.15- 10.30 at the FNQ Dance Academy, 168 Draper St, Cairns,  under the expert tutelage of Ms Sarah Thorne. If you are interested in these classes, please direct your inquiries to Ms Chan Lai Chu, Ph 0409 632 820 or email

Lion Dancing

The CADCAI Lion team trains on Sunday during the school term (long weekends excepted) at Balaclava State School’s undercover Basketball Stadium from 12.00am – 2.00pm. (McCoombe Street entrance).  The training is a combination of performance, fitness and team work. This includes basic exercises, lion dance steps and playing of lion dance instruments. This is a great opportunity for kids and adults alike to challenge their fitness levels in a non-competative environment. If you are interested in joining the group or for more information, please contact Ms Chan Lai Chu, Ph 0409 632 820 or email
